Now, when I went to see the naturapathic doctor, there were certain benefits I hoped I'd gain. For instance, I sort of expected her to be able to pinpoint what was going on with my headaches/neck pain and shoulder problems. (She did.) I wanted to break through my weight loss plateau (I did) and more than anything I wanted to find a way to get my baby better. (We did.)
I did not, however, expect certain other benefits, like, for instance, a daughter who now chooses kiwi as an after school snack. That one was a shocker. But there was something else I've noticed lately that I feel like is an added benefit worth talking about.
My skin.
My skin has never been terrible, but around college, I started to notice it wasn't good skin. It wasn't healthy, clear beautiful skin. Heck, it wasn't even pain-free. The acne I endured (and have endured recently as well) was the kind that lurks UNDER the skin. The kind that brings tears to your eyes when bumped inadvertently and sticks around for weeks. The kind that makes you want to hide out in your house instead of venturing out for the world to see. That kind.
OUCH.
I also knew Sam's skin was messed up because, well, let me show you:
That there is a hive, my fine feathered friends. A big one. And not the only one he had. Just the biggest. About the size of a quarter. On top of that, he had lots of eczema. I was told to put lotion on him, and I did, but it never helped. Something was causing this. I wish I had acne pictures to show you, but I avoid the camera when my skin is royally blemished. Lately, I've been avoiding it a lot.
Anyway, this doctor explained to me that these kinds of skin issues are also caused by the bacteria in our bodies. And the toxins. They are in there, festering, having their little party, but they have to get out somehow, so they come out in sickness and disease and, you guessed it... our skin.
SO. Why then was I surprised when I realized this morning that my skin is completely clear?
You have my word that I did not photoshop any acne out of this picture.
Now, for some of you, blessed with wonderful, baby's butt smooth skin, this is not a big deal to you. And the natural redness of my skin will keep you from viewing this as a breakthrough, but you have to understand, for me... this is huge. To not have something to cover up. To not have something that literally HURTS my face... HUGE.
And you should know that Sam's skin has also greatly improved. Still a little bit dry, but MUCH improved from where he was.
So, it just goes to show you that what you put into your body is going to make a huge difference not just on your waistline, but also on your face. Huge difference.
I have a really good healthy fried rice recipe to post on here, but I don't have time right now I gotta run clean my house. We have a think tank meeting here in four hours and I'm teaching my first Christian Youth Theatre class tonight so there's much to be done! :) But I will try to post it tomorrow. It's a little high in points, but ridiculously good!! :)
Happy Tuesday!
