Catching up.

We are SNOWED IN. I mean, I don't even think we could leave if we wanted to. It's crazy. They say we're supposed to get a foot of snow at least. It looks like that much already and it's not even 10 a.m. Crazy.

Needless to say, we're having another snow day. Great day for vegetable soup! (I posted the recipe at my weight loss blog.) Yum. Posting another recipe hopefully today sometime.

Anyway, I havent' updated my normal daily, exciting stuff lately, so here goes:

I'm working on my book.

Surprise! I bet that's a shocker. Seriously, there are OTHER things going on in our life... in fact, Adam and I sat down earlier this week to prioritize all these other things. In the upcoming months, we have:

  • A babysitting night on Valentine's Day weekend for the parents in our church (they drop their kids off and go on dates and we play with children til 10 p.m.)
  • A Leap Day Night party (this was Adam's brainchild. It's Leap Year this year... how often does that happen? So, we're renting a bunch of bouncy inflatables and letting the kids "leap" all night long. We're also going to attempt the world's largest leap frog game. ha. I will be sitting that one out!)
  • A Heroic Boys Workshop (this is the male counterpart to my "Beautiful Girls Workshop" - Adam and our guy leaders will teach the guys about self esteem, respecting themselves and girls, chivalry... all from a biblical perspective. I'm putting this together so Adam just has to show up and teach and hang out with kids!)
  • Easter. Okay, in the past, we've always done a huge Easter Egg hunt, complete with games, candy, Easter Bunny pictures. This year, we're changing it up. Two days ago, we decided we're doing a show. Yeah, in a month and a half we're going to put together a show. Stay tuned. This could be the cause of many a-headache.
  • Beautiful Girl's Workshop: Self esteem. I'm revamping it this year - I want it to really impact these girls. My thought is if we can help them understand how very much God loves them- how he created them to look exactly like they do then maybe they won't struggle with their self esteem so much as they get older.
  • Camp. (We've never gone to camp before. This year, we are. I've got the camp booked, we just have to start advertising and figure out how much everything costs, that sort of thing.)
  • We also have a women's conference in March, which affects me but not Adam....

We also have no assistant right now. Our former assistant is having twins in a couple of weeks, so we're scrambling a little more than usual with the details.

I love being busy. I love having these kinds of projects. I wouldn't have it any other way, honestly. Now that we've had Sam and gotten into our new house, it's time for me to get back involved. I've sort of just been on the sidelines for awhile. I do sort of have a bit of an internal struggle going on though, because while I feel my calling runs parallel with Adam's, I don't necessarily think it's the exact same as his. I mean, I want to be involved in what he does and impact the kids when I can, but there's a whole other side of me that I think God is pulling at right now. I can feel things shifting a little bit, and I love it and pray not to be afraid of it at the same time.

Anyway. That's it in a nutshell. I partially wrote that bulleted list for myself so I could see on the page exactly what I have to do. You've just read my big to-do list. I'll leave the laundry and dishes off for the sake of entertainment.

:)

Okay, I'm probably going to post about this in a separate post and then you can leave comments there, but I'm going to be doing a big fat giveaway. I'm excited about it. I've got some doubles of awesome stuff around here, and I figure I can share some so you can benefit from these amazing products! :) So, be on the lookout for that. Actually, I'm going to post it right now, so you've probably already read it. lol

Just got word all of our church services for tonight are cancelled. Our pastor NEVER cancels church...that is how bad the snow is here.

wowza.

SNOW. SNOW and more SNOW.

On normal days, my kids get along pretty well for the last part of the day. The first part of the day, they're apart - Sophia at school, Ethan home with me. This year, for whatever reason, we have been blessed with an abundance of snow. When I find out it's a snow day, typically I'm very happy. Something warm and cozy about not leaving the house, watching all that snow accumulate outside.

But enough is enough.

Wednesday was yet another snow day. By this point, even Sophia isn't excited to be staying home from school. We break the news to her in the usual excited way... "Sophia! You don't have to go to school today!"

She respondes, nonchalantly, a tone of boredom in her voice... "Snow day?"

"Yeah! Isn't that great?"

"Well, at least I can lay here all day in my underwear."

I swear that's what she said. Of course I didn't LET her. She was dressed at least by 2!

And while I'm writing this, I'm listening to the two of them playing the WII in the other room (they get a certain amount of time on it each day. Usually it ends whenever Mommy is fed up with the doggone fighting.) They are, at present, trying my patience... wearing on my nerves. grrr.

THIS is the scene I would rather see... (Taken Wednesday afternoon, after both children decided to get dressed. Oh, no, wait... I think Ethan is still in P.j.'s...)

MUUUCH better to hear the sounds of them squealing than it is to hear all the "You're not the BOSS, ya know?"

lol - where do they learn this stuff?

Anyway, I am plugging away on my book deadline. I'm actually a lot closer than I thought I was, which is good - and makes me happy. Sad thing is, some of the layouts I did before we moved, and well, if you could see the state of this room, you would see the need for concern. I hope I can find them!

I hope you have a great weekend! :)
