Not THAT kind of juice, Jose Canseco. Geesh.
A few months ago, I borrowed a juicer from a friend so I could do a juice fast for three days. There are a lot of reasons to do a juice fast, but for me, it was mostly about detox. I did three days with nothing but organic juice and I loved it so much that by the end of the week, I went out and got my own juicer.
People ask if it's worth it because you do need quite a bit of fruit to make the juice, and I don't know how to respond. For me, yes. It is absolutely worth it. Now, I use my juicer at least once a week, my kids love to make their own juice and if there's any fruit that's a little too mushy to eat (mushy apples are the worst!) I can throw them in the juicer instead of throwing them in the garbage.
When I first got started, I took all of this...
and got a couple cups of this...
and I even got my pickiest one to drink the equivalent of all that fruit.
it's a little frothy on the top and sometimes you have to stir it up...
but overall, juice puts smiles on all of our faces. :) Our favorites are orange/strawberry (with one packet of Truvia), orange/pineapple (ohmygosh! SOOO good) and apple/pear (for the boys). Throw in a carrot to apple/orange and you've got some great veggies too.
If you don't have a juicer...I highly recommend it. Talk about nourishment.
Now, if only I could figure out a way to juice these:
Seriously. Who keeps bananas on their counter when they look like that?
I'm GREAT in the kitchen, can ya tell? :)
Happy Monday!
