I'm at a loss.
With this room:
It's a really big family room in our finished basement. I'm painting all the trim white and we've got new carpet coming in next week...
But the paint color is throwing me off.
This is the furniture we have to use for this room.
Well, that's some of it. We won't put our TV on that. It'll be on a darker entertainment center. With book shelves.
You can see them here.
I realize painting the room is the first step and then I'll still have a TON of work to do, but have I mentioned that I'm really, really clumsy?
If we get brand new carpet and THEN I try to paint, I'm a goner.
My main concern down here is light. We don't get a lot of natural light even though we've got two great windows in this space. My other concern is that I've got an entire gallon of my upstairs blue/gray paint just sitting there (we ran out and needed like, half a quart...they only sell this particular paint by the gallon...)
I also have an entire gallon of that yellow. (Yeah, that was just me overbuying.) So, the practical part of me says "you need to use what you have...or see if they can turn those paints into a color you love...)
I am completely at a loss. I think the pressure of having to get everything painted by next Wednesday when the carpet comes is finally getting to me.
Part of me kind of wants to do a green, but nothing too earth-toned. I love green, but the whole house was painted the color of the inside of a dirty diaper (sorry) and I want to go completely in the opposite direction...
But green may be a little bold...
But this seems too pastel, even though once it's all finished I LOVE it...
I also lean toward blue. I have no idea why, but that whole family is really appealing to me, even though in our old house I swore I didn't want any blue on the walls...
Then, of course, there's THIS...which I LOVE...
But would that look ridiculous with our furniture?
How do people do this? I'm incredibly visual. Like, I need to see it before I can make a decision...and this one has me in knots. So much so that I keep forgetting things I need to do, like let a repairman into the new house by 9 a.m. this morning.
I rushed down there in my pajamas (all three kids in their pajamas) and made a great first impression, I'm sure.
Anyway. There's a good chance this wall will end up getting painted the color we already have just because I can't make a decision...but I'm at a loss.
For now, I'll paint trim, trim and more trim...at least I know what color to paint that!
