I painted this weekend. It felt good. It's really the first time I've painted since we moved. Sometimes you just need to create something.
And knowing I was making something for a dear friend of mine made it even more fun.
The background is a lot of Webster's Pages papers, a sewing pattern, sheet music and old book pages. Lots of paint, modeling paste, texture...
And then this big old chipboard heart I found in my scrapbooking stash. I used more Webster's Pages (Western Romance), and then the standard old sheet music and book pages and painted the whole thing pink.
The trim threaded through the scallops really added some cool texture, and I popped the heart off the canvas by using foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives.
I really wanted to make this piece super-girly because my friend Lyndsey has four boys...and every girl needs a little pink.
When it came to the sentiment, it was important for me to get it right...so I spent some time just thinking about Lyndsey and all the things I love about her. Ultimately, the thing I focused on was that she really makes the world more beautiful...
Seriously...Just go look at her website.
So, I printed the words off and used more gel medium to adhere them down. A few rub-ons, a big pink button and pink paint on the edges and I was done.
I feel so lucky to have friends who really fill my world with beauty...
