I'm not a political person.
Despite being elected "Most Likely to Hold a Political Office" (what?) my senior year of high school, this is not something I would ever aspire to. I just don't have the kind of brain that grasps the concepts involved with political policy.
In fact, because of my undying love for my community (and the way the rest of the world perceives it,) I often think "What can I do to change that perception? How can I help Rockford at large... and I always come up empty.
Somehow I don't think scrapbooks and burned dinners are going to help anyone.
So I don't talk about political things. Because I believe that if I give an opinion I want it to help my cause and not hurt it.
I don't know all of the ins and outs of this election... so I've chosen to focus on what I DO know.
- That God loves us. Deeply. Madly. Passionately. {This isn't up for debate. Whether you believe in him or not. He loves you.}
- That this is a beautiful, wonderful country to live in and I hope it stays that way.
- That I grew up very proud to be an American.
- That there is no substitute (and there never will be) for hard work. {It's the American Way.}
- That the results of this election weren't a surprise to God. He has a plan. We have to trust in that.
- That being ugly doesn't do any of us any favors. Kindness always wins. {on both sides, friends.}
I'm choosing to focus on those things today. Because no matter what, God is good. And faithful. And HE is the only one worth serving.
So let me ask...what do you know for sure? What will you focus on today?
