So, yesterday I mentioned something really cool that happened after I finally got over myself and did what God was telling me...
Last year was largely about marketing for me. I wrote three novels and they needed to be read, so I did what authors do and hawked my wares.
It's grueling work, really, to market yourself or your books or anything you've created...it can really take a lot out of a girl.
Especially a somewhat introverted girl.
After awhile, I started getting questions about Sweethaven from readers who wondered if there might be a fourth book...what was next? And I wanted to tell them, but the publishing world doesn't move at the same pace as the rest of us. There's a LOT that goes in to getting a book deal.
But I am happy to say that I have officially signed a contract with Guideposts Books to write a brand new two-book series set right here in the Midwest.
I had a couple of ideas floating around and the one my editor liked was the one I'd already fallen in love with...I love it when that happens. I kind of dove straight into the story, writing up a frenzy until the day the flood came. That threw me a little.
Don't be surprised if you read about a flood in one of my upcoming novels. I promise I'll make it more exciting than it really was, you know, a husband and wife vacuuming up water, hauling out water, swearing in the garage, ruining their non-waterproof shoes, tearing up drywall and flooring...
But I feel like this is a huge cause for celebration. I'm not great with remembering to celebrate... That's one thing Adam always reminds me to do. Every time I turned in a draft or got a new box of books delivered to the doorstep, he'd take us out to celebrate.
So, I want to invite you to celebrate with me...in honor of this new contract, I am giving away signed copies of the entire Sweethaven Series PLUS an awesome book (which is more like a work of art) by my dear friend Melody Ross:
I'm so thankful for the support I've received this past year, and I'd LOVE to share my gratitude with everyone who has read my books, shared my books, reviewed my books...Heck, wish we could all go out for coffee!
