I'm honestly not sure how it happened. Adam and I were talking about renovating our lower level when he suggested I start doing art workshops. I gave him a list of reasons why this would never work, but the idea grew on me.
My main reason was that I don't want to teach workshops where I have to kit the project materials and everyone leaves with the exact same painting. To me, that limits creativity, and really...shouldn't art being about exploring your own imagination? But what if I could do workshops where everyone made their own color and pattern choices? What would that look like...
Last February, I found out. I took the plunge and I haven't looked back. I LOVE hanging out with kids and adults both, just getting artsy and helping people realize that yes, you are creative.
Because you are, ya know.
Now, art workshops are a regular part of our actual business, The Studio, but if you don't live near Rockford, that might not mean much to you. I regularly get emails from people asking for a way to participate in my workshops online...but I just haven't been able to get that up and running.
Fast forward to this summer. I was talking with my friend Jeanne when I mentioned I'd been wanting to do an online art workshop geared toward kids (though, I really believe adults would have a blast doing these projects as well.)
She also has a passion for little people and had been wanting something like that on her NING site, which you can find HERE. It was such great timing, and I'm so excited she agreed to host my Online Art Camp for KIDS!

More about the course:
Summer brings with it the promise of sunshine, long, lazy days and a slower, simpler pace we’ve all been craving. But, if you’re a mom or grandma, it might also bring with it two of the most dreaded words in the English language:
Enter Summer Art Camp for KIDS! An online art class for ages 5 - adult that will allow kids to cut, glue, paint, watercolor, sketch, collage, create and stretch their creative wings, all the while kicking boredom to the curb.
Author and paper artist Courtney Walsh will take kids on a guided journey through each of the five mixed media projects, encouraging students to think outside the creative box as she leads them through each step, breaking it down in a way they will easily understand and follow.
This online course is the perfect way to bond with your child, so feel free to get in on this artsy fun, save projects for rainy days or do them all in one week, the choice is up to you! Let’s have a creative summer together, shall we?
*The class will include 5 projects with art videos start to finish.
